We are excited to add a Senior Finance Associate to join our Venture Finance team. Bain Capital Ventures is an affiliate of Bain Capital established to invest in venture and growth stage companies within a core set of industry verticals where the senior investment team has deep domain expertise. Bain Capital Ventures believes that one of its fundamental competitive advantages is its affiliation with Bain Capital, which provides Bain Capital Ventures with additional industry perspectives and a network of global portfolio companies and investors. The investment professionals of Bain Capital Ventures, as well as its operating and senior advisors, provide significant ongoing strategic and operation support to companies. Potential investment areas by segment include: Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) and Machine Learning, Commerce Technology, Financial Technology (including digital currency), Healthcare IT and Services, Infrastructure Software and Security Software.

Position Description
The Senior Finance Associate will partner with the Finance professionals in managing key tasks including, but not limited to, the following:
- Quarterly US GAAP Basis Reporting; annual US GAAP Basis audit
- Annual Tax Basis Book Preparation; working with internal tax department and external advisers regarding tax implication of complex investment transactions
- Cash flow management, capital calls and cash and stock distributions
- Work with partners on portfolio company cap table/round modeling and liquidation analyses
- Create fund performance and waterfall analyses
- Review and analysis of portfolio company financials in preparation for quarterly partner portfolio review meetings
- Work with partners to assist in the preparation of quarterly portfolio company valuations & prepare summarized data for partner presentations
- Respond to requests and inquiries of limited partners and their representatives via telephone and email
- Work with Investor Relations in preparation of presentation materials, information posted to investor website, fundraising documents
- Understand and document investment transactions; working with deal staff and outside advisors on deal closings and harvest transactions
- Analyze various fund activities to ensure compliance with partnership agreements
- Work with the CFO / Finance Director on projects to enhance the product of the team, department and firm
- Other ad hoc responsibilities
- 2-4 years in Public Accounting or related experience in an in-house accounting & finance role; demonstrated professional and academic achievement
- Self-starter with strong project management and follow-through skills
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects with the highest attention to detail.
- Creative problem solving ability and sound judgment
- Strong team player with an entrepreneurial predisposition and strong interpersonal skills
- Outstanding Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with Microsoft Access a plus
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Bachelors Degree in Finance or Accounting from a four-year college/university with a strong academic background (minimum 3.5 GPA)
