Job Description
Are you ready to design the next generation of hydraulic infrastructure and lead river restoration projects that make a lasting impact on communities and ecosystems as a Hydrology & Hydraulics / Water Resources Engineer at Baird?
Baird is seeking an engineer with a solid foundation in civil engineering hydrology & hydraulics with experience in river and watershed engineering to join our growing international team. This is an opportunity to contribute to impactful projects across a range of complex environments and collaborate with an established group of professionals in a company recognized for technical excellence and innovation.
You will be responsible for designing hydraulic infrastructure and river restoration projects. You are familiar with the latest professional standards for hydraulic & hydrologic engineering and have experience developing numerical hydrologic and hydraulic models, including setup, calibration, and validation procedures.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Numerical modeling for river and watershed projects world-wide
- Managing project delivery from conception through completion
- Mentoring and providing technical oversight of junior -level scientists and engineers
- Participating in proposal preparation and interviews, as necessary
- Working with diverse disciplines across different offices and time zones
- Working collaboratively on multidisciplinary projects including flood risk mitigation, field data collection, climate change impacts, sedimentation and contaminated sediment transport, flood protection and navigation structures design, flood risk mapping and resiliency, and renewable energy projects
Qualifications
What You Bring
- B.S. or M.Eng. in civil, hydraulic, or water resources engineering
- 5 years of relevant experience in hydrology and hydraulics
- A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic engineering codes, standards, and modeling techniques, including rain-on-grid modeling
- A well-rounded background in flood risk reduction, climate resiliency, and complex engineering project delivery
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage clients and collaborate across diverse teams
- Proven project management and organizational abilities, including experience leading multidisciplinary efforts
- A flexible, adaptable approach to working in dynamic project environments
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
Bonus if you have
- Experience with reservoirs, dams, hydropower infrastructure, and sediment transport, climate change effects and resiliency initiatives.
