Structural Engineer, PE

We are currently seeking a full-time, exempt Structural Engineer (PE) in the Fort Worth office. As a Structural Engineer, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary and multi-level team to create structural solutions in Revit and AutoCAD for a variety of market sectors including commercial, education, healthcare, industrial, historical, and hospitality.  Using AutoCAD and Revit, you will prepare construction drawings and estimates, perform detailed calculations, and create technical specifications, overseeing projects to ensure that deadlines.

In this role you can expect to perform the following tasks.  This is not an exhaustive list:

  • Working under a Project Manager, manage structural projects from design development in Revit and AutoCAD through construction administration in steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
  • Consult and coordinate work with internal departments.  
  • Maintain and develop relationships with clients, architects, and consultants.  Collaborate to create solutions to challenges.  Prepare reports, perform calculations, anticipate and update schedules, and provide estimates of construction costs for designs. Communicate delays or concerns with the project manager, working together on resolution. 
  • Manage communication with general contractors: answering RFIs, marking up show drawing submittals, monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by general contractors by performing site visits. 
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineers in the early stages of their career development, supporting their professional growth and advancement within the field.  Serve as a technical resource for questions.

We require: 
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a Structural Engineer role.
  • At least 4 years’ experience designing in Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State, and Local regulatory and permitting requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills - Connections are a critical part of how we work. 


It helps to have:
  • Experience in the consulting industry.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (RISA suite and/or Tekla Tedds)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. 
  • Active membership and/or leadership role in a local engineering or industry association such as SEAoT, ACI, etc.


Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary with long periods of sitting, but occasional walking and lifting up to 25lbs may occur.  Occasional bending, squatting, climbing, crawling and reaching overhead may also occur on site visits.  Additionally, extensive computer usage is required daily.
Position Type and Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position, with an expectation to work 40 hours per week. BHB offers flexible scheduling options, including five 8-hour days or four 9-hour days with a half day on Friday morning. While the start and end times of the workday can be adjusted, employees are expected to establish and maintain a consistent schedule which must encompass the core business hours of 9am – 4pm.   Although overtime is not required, it is requested at times to meet our clients’ needs.
