FSQA Manager

Job Summary/Objective
The FSQA Manager oversees the food safety and quality assurance programs at the Wiley Road and Freedom gluten-free facilities, and ensures the production of safe, high-quality products that meet Bake’n Joy’s specifications and consumer expectations. This hands-on role involves mentoring the FSQA team and ensuring compliance to Bake’n Joy FSQA policies and procedures along with regulatory requirements. The FSQA Manager collaborates closely with Production, Warehouse, R&D, and Scheduling to maintain and enhance the quality program.
Essential Functions
Food Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with local, city, state, and federal food safety regulations.
- Manage the facility’s food safety/HACCP plans, including raw material and finished product hazard analyses, and supplier risk assessments.
- Develop and manage SQF systems as an SQF practitioner.
- Serve as onsite PCQI.
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external regulatory and certification audits (e.g., SQF, Gluten-Free, etc.), including executing corrective actions.
- Oversee sanitation programs in coordination with Operations and Bake’n Joy Corporate Sanitation.
Quality Assurance and Customer Service
- Perform mock recalls and assist the Crisis Management Team during product recall execution.
- Investigate and resolve customer issues and complaints related to product quality.
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and ensure reliability.
- Create and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
- Organize and maintain FSQA documents and oversee document control and configuration management systems.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and stays updated on regulatory developments.
- Provide regular updates to Senior Leadership and stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Development
- Build a high-performance team by setting and monitoring expectations and goals aligned with strategic plans.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to FSQA Technicians and provide performance feedback.
- Develop and implement food safety training programs.
- Participate actively in internal continuous improvement teams.
Materials and Inventory Management
- Oversee the calibration and testing program to maintain product quality.
- Support procurement needs and manage incoming raw materials and packaging.

Work Hours
- Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Flexibility required for production schedule and deadlines.
Travel
- Between Bake’n Joy manufacturing locations in southern NH and northern MA.
- Minimal travel required for supplier visits and regulatory audits.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in a food manufacturing setting.
- Experience managing a team over multiple shifts.
- In-depth knowledge of product, processing, packaging, and specification requirements.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Project and people management experience.
- Experience in FDA/USDA regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of GFSI audit schemes.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Internal auditing experience.
- Strong background in risk assessment planning.
