Bakelite Synthetics is looking for a Fleet Diesel Mechanic at our Lufkin, TX site.
Life in Lufkin: Located northeast of Houston, Lufkin is just 60 miles west from the Texas-Louisiana border.
Surrounded by vast areas of pine trees, Lufkin and has a rich history of manufacturing in lumber and paper.
Explore downtown Lufkin, home to many restaurants, shops and historic architecture.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like?
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and advanced maintenance on tractors and trailers, including preventative maintenance (PM) and engine repairs.
Manage inventory (fuel, oil, parts) and maintain vendor relationships.
Oversee purchase orders and maintain accurate records.
Support plant maintenance tasks and serve as a backup driver as needed.
Work at heights, in confined spaces, and adhere to facial hair guidelines for respirator usage.
Ensure compliance with all Bakelite and DOT safety regulations, maintaining a clean driving record and providing excellent customer service.
Stay current with DOT regulations for CDL drivers and demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills in daily tasks.
What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with heavy-duty trucks and diesel engines. Six (6) months or more of experience in a chemical manufacturing facility or driving a cargo tank is preferred.
Certifications: Current ASE Certification(s) preferred. Must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and DOT Medical Card. DOT certifications, including Tanker and HazMat Endorsements, are required or must be obtained after hire.
Driving Record: A clean driving record with no more than one chargeable/preventable motor vehicle accident or traffic violation within the past year.
Additional Skills: Leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
