Shift Supervisor: The Impact You’ll Have On The Organization and World
You’ll champion EHS Excellence. As a Shift Supervisor, you perform safety inspections, enforce compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and oversee critical permitting processes, including Safe Work, Hot Work, LOTO, confined space, and more.
You’ll inspire and lead the workforce. By managing daily production activities and fostering process ownership on the shop floor, you ensure reliable manufacturing and identify opportunities for improvement while collaborating with supervisors to share best practices.
You’ll play a critical role in Safety and team development. You cultivate a knowledgeable, well-prepared workforce ready to excel though administration of training, operator certification, and providing in-depth process knowledge during on-the-job training.
You’ll help drive efficient maintenance. By supporting the Maintenance team’s execution of work orders, you keep production schedules on track and equipment running reliably while minimizing downtime.

Does a Typical Day Look Like? Here are your primary responsibilities:
Conduct regular housekeeping and safety walkarounds with unit personnel to establish and maintain high-performance standards, driving leadership and employee engagement in safety practices.
Oversee shift’s EHS/Responsible Care functions, focusing on process safety, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to all Federal, State, and local regulations.
Support leading initial investigations and documentation of unusual incidents, serving as the On-Site Emergency Coordinator (Incident Commander) during off hours to ensure rapid and effective responses.
Act as a subject matter expert on issuing Safe Work, Hot Work, and LOTO permits, while also managing additional permits for confined spaces, excavations, and high-pressure water blasting.
Guide shift associates in daily activities to ensure reliable manufacturing that supports production schedules, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities for associates, encouraging process ownership and empowering the workforce to identify and implement improvement opportunities.
Support maintenance efforts by facilitating work notification generation, providing technical guidance for simple repairs, and aligning off-shift maintenance to minimize downtime.
Administer operator certification testing, lead SOP training sessions, and deliver hands-on process knowledge during on-the-job training to enhance team capabilities.
Participate in daily and monthly meetings with cross-functional teams to share insights, address challenges, and implement best practices for operational excellence.
Strategically schedule and document associate data in Dayforce, document and administer disciplinary actions, and ensure workforce alignment to meet safety, production, and health goals.
What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):
Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience—chemical and supervisory experience preferred.
Ability to work effectively across all organizational levels, treating individuals with respect, valuing diversity, and building trust to gain support and foster collaboration.
Proven ability to articulate the need for change, inspire support, and guide others through transitions while encouraging creativity and innovation in adapting to new ways of working.
Strong understanding of internal customer requirements and the ability to instill confidence in customers by ensuring their needs are understood and met diligently.
Demonstrated ability to establish and pursue clear goals and objectives with a focus on delivering measurable outcomes.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
