You will drive and support environmental program execution across the facility to enhance the effectiveness of Bakelite’s sustainability initiatives, contributing to the company’s overall environmental stewardship.
You’ll play a critical role in our Regulatory Compliance success. Bakelite meets local and federal environmental regulations, reducing the risk of non-compliance and potential penalties.
Leading and supporting programs, the Site Environmental Leader promotes a culture where operations has ownership, encouraging proactive environmental practices across the organization.
You’ll analyze and evaluate environmental initiatives and make strategic recommendations that optimize project implementation and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.

What Does a Typical Day Look Like? Here are your primary responsibilities:
Responsible for timely and accurate record keeping and reporting of regulatory data including, but not limited to, Title V requirements, Annual Air Emissions Inventory, DMR, TRI, Tier II, Biennial Waste Report, RMP, etc.
Leads compliance with regulatory Environmental requirements and prepares, updates, and maintains permits and procedures including the process of data collection to determine emission factors and other required calculations.
Evaluates special projects and any changes which could impact environmental compliance; elevates concerns to site leadership.
Acts as Site liaison with government environmental officials during site visits and inspections.
Leads and supports Root Cause Analysis investigations for environmental incidents and events, as needed.
Supports the PSM process by acting as the Environmental SME.
Support Corporate Responsible Care initiative and Sustainability programs.
What is Needed to be Successful in this Role (Required Skills/Abilities):
Bachelors of Science degree in Environmental Science/Management, Engineering, or technically related field.
Demonstrated working knowledge of environmental regulations.
Ability to work in fast paced environment and self-directed at times.
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred Qualifications:
3 years’ experience as an environmental professional in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
Previous experience working with a Title V permit.
Travel: 5-10% domestic travel for training and meetings.
