Our Firmwide Innovation department has an exciting opportunity in the Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, or other BakerHostetler office for a Data Analytics, AI, and Data Science Manager. Other firm locations may be considered for the right applicant. The Data Analytics, AI, and Data Science Manager will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and expertise in developing and refining machine learning models. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the data science and AI team, designing and developing ML systems, preprocessing data, and ensuring the quality and integrity of datasets. The ideal candidate must be passionate about machine learning and have a holistic perspective on the entire model development lifecycle from both business and technical perspectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the data science and AI team to deliver high-quality projects.
- Create and refine machine learning models and algorithms using Azure ML Studio.
- Clean, organize, and prepare data for model training.
- Train models using various datasets and evaluate their performance.
- Choose appropriate machine learning algorithms based on project requirements.
- Conduct experiments to test and validate models.
- Optimize models for performance and scalability.
- Deploy machine learning models into production environments.
- Monitor model performance and make necessary updates.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, data analysts, engineers, and product managers.
- Document the development process, including methodologies, experiments, and results.
- Run ETL jobs specific to data quality.
- Work with large language models (LLMs) to create retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) implementations.
- Understand and utilize vector databases.
- Create custom applications using Azure AI Studio and Azure AI Search.
- Use third-party data sources as necessary to enrich, validate, and improve data quality.
- Conduct data troubleshooting, identify root causes, and provide remediation along with improvement suggestions.
- Develop and implement strategies for leveraging low code solutions and Microsoft's Power Platform.
- Ensure compliance with data governance principles and practices.
- Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business decisions.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports using data visualization tools like Power BI.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, with 3 years of experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, data preprocessing, and working with large datasets. A major in Data Science is preferred.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages, and strong skills with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn. Expertise in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
- Familiarity with data profiling and quality tools.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis techniques, data flows, and data relationships, with proficiency in using data analysis and visualization tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Supervised and unsupervised learning expertise.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, engineers, and product managers.
- Demonstrated knowledge and suitability for an agile development environment, with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
- Understanding of data governance principles and practices, including data quality standards and the importance of maintaining high data integrity.
- Passionate about machine learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in the field, with the ability to innovate and apply new techniques to solve complex problems.
- Experience with low code solutions, Microsoft's Power Platform, Power BI, and SharePoint is a plus.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $240,000 – 250,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience level, education/training, and relevant skills.
