The Estimator will be integral to our team, collaborating across diverse teams, working on significant projects, and diving headfirst into complex challenges with the best in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for assigned projects, applying knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, and/or processes.
- Follow-up with clients to overcome obstacles that could stand in the way of being awarded the contract.
- Provide ongoing cost estimate support to operations for awarded contracts.
- Enter quantities into appropriate software program for pricing.
- Provide initial data for entry into Commence software.
- Provide Contracts Department with applicable specifications documents to identify insurance requirements.
- Identify, contact, and create relationships with vendors/suppliers to assess vendor/supplier capabilities for specific project.
- Analyze and scope vendors/suppliers to determine best value and project continuity.
- Work with vendors and/or suppliers to commit to best pricing.
- Create baseline job duration.
- Determine special equipment needs for the job.
- Incorporate proposal language for reductions and retentions.
- Review with Operations for productivity/manpower.
- Capture data on lost jobs to monitor competition and market.
- Track project until awarded.
- Set up transition meeting for Project Manager.
- Copies pricing, quotes, and pertinent proposal information for Project Manager.
- Prepare rough schedule for job duration including cash flow and man-hour requirements.
- Coordinate meeting time for Project Manager and invitees.
- Communicate understanding of low-qualified vendors/subs and commitments.
- Provide overview of job and proposal to Project Manager and operations support.
- Communicate General Contractors/owners schedule and needs with field supervision.
- Review potential operations alternatives.
- Assist project team in receiving approval within 60 days of submittals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, accounting, or related field from an accredited college or university.
- Three years related experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proficiency in Estimating software (such as Timberline, UScost, WinEst).
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations.
- Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
