What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Park Ranger position at Baker Creek State Park?
Responsibilities:
- Patrol assigned park areas to ensure visitor safety and compliance with park rules and regulations
- Provide information and assistance to park visitors, including answering questions and giving directions
- Enforce park rules and regulations, issuing warnings or citations as necessary
- Conduct regular inspections of park facilities, trails, and grounds to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning restrooms, emptying trash bins, maintaining picnic areas, plumbing, electrical, construction projects
- Assist with the preservation and conservation of park resources, including monitoring wildlife and vegetation
- Respond to emergencies and provide first aid or coordinate with emergency services as needed
Experience:
- Previous experience in park maintenance, grounds keeping, or a related field is preferred but not required
-Previous experience in electrical, plumbing and carpentry is a plus but not required
- Familiarity with hand tools and equipment used in landscaping and grounds keeping
- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and practices is a plus
- Ability to maintain accurate records and complete reports as required
Skills:
- Ability to build positive relationships with park visitors and effectively communicate information
- Strong problem-solving skills to address visitor concerns or resolve conflicts
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Proficient in first aid techniques and emergency response procedures
- Capable of lifting heavy objects and performing strenuous tasks as needed
