BakerRisk is currently seeking a Fire Protection Engineer/Consultant to assist with fire protection and loss prevention projects/activities.
Responsibilities:
The consultant/engineer is expected to solve complex Fire Protection and Process Safety technical problems, with solutions that could involve numerical calculations to help BakerRisk advance our software models to better predict the outcomes of fire events and associated mitigation measures.
Responsibilities will focus on evaluating fire and explosion risks and hazards, reviewing and identifying available protection and emergency response resources, and developing prevention and protection solutions for client consideration.
Qualifications: Qualified candidates should meet or exceed the following requirements:
Required:
- BS or MS with a minimum of 3 plus years experience in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering; 5 or more years experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of active and passive fire protection design principles
- Knowledge of codes, standards, and recommended practices applicable to petrochemical and/or petroleum refining facilities
- Familiar with testing and evaluation of fixed protection systems including firewater supplies, pumping systems, distribution systems, fixed water spray systems, fireproofing, fire and gas detection systems, etc.
- Experience in computer-based modeling of consequences of flash, jet, and pool fire, including screening-level modeling, CFD/FDS, and similar platforms
- Ability to understand and evaluate emergency response plans, resources, and capabilities in relation to potential events at our clients facilities
- Ability to work effectively under direction of senior engineers and handle multiple work assignments and projects
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in standard computer / information technology systems such as MS Office
Preferred:
- Professional Registration as a Fire Protection Engineer is highly desired
- Experience in fire system hydraulic analysis
- Proficiency in CAD, FDS, CFD, and/or other modeling platforms
