Commercial Collector

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Commercial Collector to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounts receivable processes. This role involves managing collections for commercial and insurance accounts, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining positive relationships with clients. The Commercial Collector will utilize their expertise in accounting software and AR/AP terminology to effectively negotiate payment arrangements and resolve outstanding debts.

Responsibilities

• Manage collections for commercial and insurance accounts, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue payments.
• Analyze accounts to identify outstanding balances and develop strategies for collection including research and asset location.
• Utilize accounting software to track payments, manage account records, and document collection efforts.
• Negotiate payment arrangements with clients while maintaining a professional demeanor.
• Communicate effectively with clients via phone and email, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette with a higher than average vocabulary.
• Understand and apply consumer collection law (FDCPA), UCC code, contract, mediation and lien knowledge relevant to the collection of debts.
• Perform account analysis to identify trends in payment behaviors and recommend improvements to maintain urgency and effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate records of all communications and transactions related to collections.

Experience

• Proven experience in accounts receivable or collections, preferably in a commercial or legal setting.
• Familiarity with accounting software and insurance practices related to financial transactions.
• Strong mathematical skills for accurate calculations of debits and credits.
• Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to resolve disputes amicably.
• Knowledge of legal collection processes and contract law is a plus but not required.
