What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Scheduler position at Baker Group?
PURPOSE
The Project Scheduler works closely with Project Team to develop and manage project schedule, monitor and track field labor productivity, and update schedule changes that occur throughout project lifecycle. This role also provides planning input by reviewing project specific information, developing preliminary schedules for internal evaluation and utilizing other project control functions to plan and track project success. Additionally, the Project Scheduler ensures the development of achievable project schedules that align with resource availability and project constraints.
This position supports multiple projects by proactively implementing processes and methodologies related to planning, scheduling, cost control, estimating, risk assessment, schedule performance, and resource management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Functions
- Provide the application of scheduling logic, constraints, lag/lead relationships, float management, to apply critical path scheduling methodology.
- Integrate project planning, assessment of critical paths, resource loaded scheduling and earned value analysis to evaluate project progress.
- Evaluate project data and objectively develop alternatives to complex schedule related issues and situations.
- Review changes to schedules and resources to determine possible project impacts.
- Report potential problems and recommend solutions to project management as needed
- Break estimate into durations, hours, and activities that can be utilized in the creation of a resource loaded project schedule.
- Monitor resource needs by utilizing resource developed schedules
- Proactively track and update equipment deliveries and align project schedule.
- Effectively communicate project status and project schedule deadlines to team members.
- Engage team members when necessary to push team to achieve project deadlines.
- Proactively develop what if scenario schedules to review and understand optimal solutions for project success.
- Ability to integrate logic from multiple discipline schedules to develop an internal master schedule.
- Strong computer and business software skills required, ability to utilize excel and graph formation.
- Read and understand construction documents to understand and develop project controls necessary to deliver successful project completion.
- Development of work breakdown structures to be utilized in the scheduling, labor hour tracking, and field install process.
- Participate in developing RFP schedules during bid phases of project.
- Understand project scheduling needs and requirements and develop schedule based on need, i.e. detailed hourly shutdown schedules, basic activity schedules, cost-loaded schedules, resource loaded schedules.
- Attend weekly project meetings and on-site meetings when necessary.
- Proactively communicate with owners, team members, and field staff as needed on scheduling status.
- Continual commitment of education to remain abreast of the latest technological methods, software, and other tools necessary to successfully achieve the objective of the position.
Secondary Functions:
- Collect data from projects and produce reports on performance metrics
- Identify trends of key performance indicators required by project to provide cost and completion forecast.
- Assist project manager in reporting cost and schedule completion forecast
- Develop presentations to communicate project status which reflect Performance metrics, to higher level team members and owners, as needed.
- Review subcontractor schedules, provide feedback to project team members as needed
- Develop cost tracking worksheets that are specific to metrics utilized in tracking project status.
- Assist Project Manager in review schedule delays and critical path delay analysis, and concurrent delays.
- Evaluate Project Risks and update risk log as needed.
- Evaluate processes and procedures around project controls and provide improvement input.
- Create Layouts specific to owners and projects to be utilized on schedules
- Provide input to Detailing and Fabrication departments on project schedules.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or the equivalent through experience (typically six years of related progressive work experience)
- Extensive practical experience with MS Office application (Excel, Word, Access, Project)
- Strong working knowledge of scheduling techniques and industry scheduling standards.
- Ability to Use Scheduling Software (MS Project, Primavera P6)

- Valid driver’s license
