Primary Responsibilities
The Creative Director at Baker Hill is a critical leadership role responsible for creating, defining, and evolving the brand across all digital products and platforms. This position reports directly to the Chief Design Officer and is integral in shaping the overall visual identity and brand strategy for Baker Hill. The Creative Director will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product, Sales, and Solutions, to ensure that all creative output not only meets the highest standards of quality but also reflects and supports the company’s goals and values.
Essential Functions/Job Duties
Brand Creation and Strategy:
- Lead the development of Baker Hill’s overall brand strategy, from defining the visual identity to creating a cohesive brand voice that resonates across all touchpoints, including digital platforms, product interfaces, and marketing materials.4
- Work closely with senior leadership to understand the company’s strategic objectives and market positioning, ensuring that the brand reflects these goals and differentiates Baker Hill in the market.
- Define the company’s brand pillars and values, ensuring consistency across all brand experiences.
Design Leadership and Execution:
- Oversee the creative direction for all digital products, ensuring they adhere to brand guidelines and reflect the established visual and thematic identity.
- Supervise and guide a team of designers, copywriters, and other creatives to produce high-quality designs that align with the brand vision and are on-brand.
- Lead the creation of key visual assets for the website, mobile apps, marketing campaigns, and product interfaces, ensuring a seamless and compelling brand experience across all channels.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with the Product, Development, and UX/UI teams to ensure that the brand experience is consistent and well-integrated across the entire user journey, from product onboarding to post-purchase support.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to create compelling sales tools, presentations, and other collateral that help drive client engagement and accelerate the sales process.
- Engage with internal teams to deliver creative solutions that balance user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives.
Client and Sales Enablement:
- Create compelling visual assets and design materials that empower the Sales team, making it easier to communicate the brand's value proposition to clients.
- Develop targeted pitch decks, case studies, and other tools to support the Sales team in client meetings, ensuring they have the resources needed to drive conversions.
- Design customer-facing materials that communicate product value clearly and effectively, increasing customer engagement and accelerating the sales cycle.
Brand Consistency and ADA Accessibility:
- Ensure that all creative outputs adhere to Baker Hill’s brand guidelines, maintaining consistency across all digital platforms and marketing materials.
- Advocate for and implement ADA accessibility standards in all creative design processes, ensuring that all digital products are inclusive and accessible to all users.
- Regularly audit digital and marketing materials for brand consistency, accessibility, and user experience, making improvements where necessary.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and design best practices, constantly looking for ways to evolve and improve the brand.
- Innovate new ways to visually engage customers and users, integrating emerging trends such as motion graphics, animation, and interactive design into the brand experience.
- Use analytics and feedback from internal teams and clients to iterate and refine the brand’s visual and experiential elements over time.
Skills/Qualifications Required
- 7–10 years of experience as a UI/UX Designer, with a proven track record of leading design teams, ideally in a product or tech-driven environment.
- A compelling portfolio showcasing a range of UI/UX design projects, demonstrating expertise in both visual and interaction design.
- 3 years of knowledge of fintech industry trends and best practices is desirable but not required.
- Expertise in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar, with a strong understanding of front-end development practices (HTML, CSS, etc.).
- Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Experience with user research techniques such as interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
