An opportunity for a Research & Development (R&D) Physicist is available, working as part of multidisciplinary product development teams. Members of Reuter Stokes multidisciplinary teams apply experimental and computational methods to the development of new products for energy and security industries.
As a Lead Nuclear Physicist, you will be responsible for:
Working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary NPI team.
Developing, setting up, and conducting experiments/tests on prototype systems.
Documenting work products in written form, e.g. technical notes, design specifications, journal publications
Presenting work achievements to the team, and when appropriate to the scientific community at technical conferences
Providing engineering/physics support for all existing Reuter-Stokes’ product lines
To be successful in this role you will:
Have a Bachelor's Degree in Physics (A Master's or PhD would be preferred)
Have a minimum of 5 to 10 years of technical work experience or a combination of a Master's degree and work experience.
Have technical experience in nuclear physics, solid-state physics, optics, and radiation detection is highly desirable.
Have effective interpersonal and teamwork skills
Have excellent judgment and decision-making ability
Be able to analyze and resolve problems
Desired Characteristics
Experience and success with basic and applied research to support new product development
Experience conducting experiments and analyzing results
Excellent data-driven analytical skills
Familiarity with nuclear safety-related instrumentation, including design and qualification
Some familiarity with high-temperature nuclear detection
Some familiarity with neutron detector design, test, and qualification
Knowledge and experience relative to uncertainty and/or risk analysis
Understanding and experience with computational modelling tools such as COMSOL, MCNP, GEANT4, Zemax
Contributing to one or more of the related tasks: leading experimental design and analysis, coordinating with model development efforts, data evaluation, and test validation
History of technical contributions to one or more of the following fields: Nuclear physics, Solid-state physics, Optics, Particle physics
