What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finishing Repair position at Baker Interiors Furniture Company?
Position Summary
Finishing Repairs, touches up and rebuilds all finishing on furniture products, including, but not limited to: case goods, upholstery, bedding, items being delivered via delivery providers and custom orders. All finishing repairs must meet standard expectation. This includes repairing tops, mixing custom stains for color matching, stripping, and finishing, as well as finishing or refinishing a product through the use of complex power tools.
This position would also:
- Brush, spray, or hand-rub finishing ingredients, such as paint, oil, stain, or wax, onto and into wood grain; then apply lacquer or other sealers.
- Lift heavy frames onto finishing table at times
- Disassemble items to prepare them for finishing using hand tools
- Examine furniture to determine the extent of damage and to decide on the best method for repair or restoration
- Fill and smooth cracks or depressions, remove marks and imperfections, and repair broken parts, using plastic or wood putty, glue, nails, and/or screws
- Inspects cases for runs and/or other imperfections.
Requirements:
-Experience working w/ finishes for all types of woods & veneers.
-Capable of mixing ingredients to obtain specified colors/shades to specifications or match existing finishes.
-Ability to achieve color consistency & color matches on a regular basis.
-Calculates mic ratios as per manufacturer's specs.
-Ability to apply primer, top coat paint, stain, & any wiped or spray-applied coatings to detailed parts as per customer specifications & industry quality standards.
-Skilled in removing excess material & prepares the surface for finishing.
-Must be familiar with & have operational knowledge of department tools.
-Familiar with reading a ruler & have basic math skills.
-Ability to work as a part of a team.
-Ability to keep a clean & organized work space & meet deadlines.
-Effective verbal communication skills.
-Must be professional & reliable.
-Wear required safety glasses & work shoes; works safely & reports unsafe conditions to Department supervisor. Also performs required stretching exercises.
-Performs other duties as required by supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.87 - $22.73 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 44 per week
