Job Title: Pourer/Shifter
SUMMARY Operate transfer ladles to pour molten metal into sand molds. Place weights and jackets on molds before pouring.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Move ladles on the overhead monorail from furnaces to the pouring deck.
- Adjust ladle height and pour molten metal into molds.
- Check metal temperature with standard instruments.
- Move mold weights and jackets as needed.
- Push pallets with molds across the deck.
- Operate controls to release molds to shakeout.
- Use shakeout turntable to separate castings from sand and break off risers and gates.
- Drive a powered lift truck to move materials.
- Follow work instructions and supervisor directions.
- Practice safety and wear required protective equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 months of related experience/training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Read and understand basic instructions.
- Write simple notes and communicate with team members.
MATH SKILLS
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide basic numbers.
REASONING SKILLS
- Follow detailed instructions and solve simple problems.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
- Must complete lift truck driver training and licensing after hiring.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Stand regularly; walk and reach often.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and over 100 pounds occasionally.
- Must have good vision (close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Exposed to moving parts, fumes, vibration, and extreme heat.
- Noise level is very loud.
TRAINING AND EVALUATION
- New employees are evaluated at 30, 60, and 90 days.
- Ongoing training and yearly evaluations for all employees.
