What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Librarian position at Baker McKenzie Tampa Center?
The Research Librarian will manage and deliver information and research services within the context of the Firm's information and research (I&R) strategy; work with the end-to-end Research teams and Service Owners, in-market Information & Research managers and research librarians, Knowledge Partners, Knowledge Lawyers, and local Knowledge teams; and act as a point of contact for information and research requests and inquiries.
Responsibilities:
Service Orientation:
- Maintain and build strong relationships with In-Market I&R Leads, Managers and Research Librarians, Senior Manager for Research and Information Alerts, Service Owner for Research and Information Alerts, Knowledge Partners and Lawyers, the end-to-end Business Research team and Information Product Management team, and other Knowledge Services teams
- Demonstrate value through effective communication with stakeholders and key relationships
Knowledge & Expertise:
- Understand and promote the role and functionality of the Firm's research, content, and information repositories and resources
- Undertake legal research, and assist with business research as required, on request from lawyers and business professionals, and proactively when aware of users' areas of interest, and support and deliver information alert management, information product management, multi-jurisdictional research, and other I&R services as required
- Demonstrate ongoing learning and professional accountability that cultivates communication and collaboration, fostering immediate and long-term goals
- Support the development and delivery of research training plans and programmes for trainees and lawyers, and assess learning opportunities for workplace excellence
- Ensure and facilitate timely access to relevant legal and business information and research resources to support lawyers providing advice to clients
- Work with regional I&R Leads, Managers and Research Librarians, IPM staff, team leaders, and managers, liaise with internal clients to learn about their business focus and information needs
- Apply industry thinking, initiative, and experience when providing information and research
People Management:
- Collaborative, supportive, team player working with In-Market Research Librarians, other Research team members, IPM team members, Knowledge Services staff, and the wider I&R and Knowledge Communities
Work Management:
- Support and participate in the adoption and use of Knowledge and I&R systems
- Participate in and lead projects as requested
- Be aware of and participate in the Firm's and I&R group goals. Participate in setting and aligning I&R group goals with PG goals, managing resources, and evaluating use. Report on usage and space management
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant undergraduate degree
- Good relevant research background, with strong experience in knowledge, information, and research in a professional services environment
- Able to manage multiple stakeholders, build strong relationships virtually, communicate effectively, be comfortable working in a large, complex environment, highly credible and persuasive
- Strong people management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize and manage people's time to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to drive results and a sense of urgency in setting strategies and executing against the objectives
- Proven ability to influence, interact, and consult with senior leaders, strong collaboration skills, and effective stakeholder management
- Strong communication skills, and highly credible presentation skills
- Comprehension of a diverse set of knowledge and information resources
