What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial Flooring Estimator position at Baker Paint & Contracting Co?
Summary
The Estimator is responsible for assisting with the preparation and/or coordination of complete and accurate estimates on projects. In addition, the Estimator will assist in the preparation of the proposal package, which includes but is not limited to quantity surveys, pricing, alternates, and/or clarifications. As a key role in our organization, the Estimator is expected to build effective relationships with team members, external customers, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
Responsibilities
- Familiarize oneself with product systems including application instruction and product data sheets
- Prepare complete quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for all items incorporated in the assigned scope
- Prepare detailed estimates based on construction drawings and specifications
- Analyze contract documents (plans, specifications, etc.) to determine any required scope
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor/vendor proposals relative to their scope of work and determine if scope is covered
- Calculate the job cost based on information gathered during bid process
- Ability to manage multiple preconstruction projects
- Attend on-site pre-bid meetings and site visits
- Builds effective relationships with team members, clients, subcontractors, and vendors
- Detailed knowledge of pricing and costs for materials, labor, subcontractors and equipment for all trade disciplines
- Performs other duties associated with this position as may be appropriate
Qualifications
- 2 Years of Experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Possess a strong work ethic
- Proficient with Onscreen Takeoff
- Ability to read construction blueprints & specifications
- Efficient in time management to meet multiple deadlines
