Position: Summer 2025 Intern, Bethany House Publishers and Chosen BooksDepartment: EditorialReports to: Senior EditorPosition Type: Paid InternshipLocation: Baker Publishing Group, Bloomington, MN Baker Publishing Group is accepting applications for a 10-week, 20 hours/week intern for Bethany House Publishers and Chosen Books, leaders in Christian publishing. This internship will begin in June 2025. Bethany House produces fiction and nonfiction books in a wide variety of categories, including Christian living, devotional, self-help, leadership, marriage, and parenting. Chosen publishes well-crafted books that recognize the gifts and ministry of the Holy Spirit and help readers live more empowered and effective lives for Jesus Christ.The internship will focus on the editorial aspects of publishing (acquisitions, editing, administration) while providing exposure to marketing, design, production, and sales as well. - Participate in Christian Publishing 101, a four-part webinar series covering all aspects of publishing.
- Meet with staff in all areas of publishing to become familiar with the publishing process.
- Attend meetings such as all-staff meeting, editorial board meeting, pub board meeting, marketing and positioning meeting, project editor meeting, DEI meeting, and creative team meeting.
- Review printer proofs.
- Review ebook files for needed revisions and corrections.
- Proofread copy for ads, book covers, and other marketing pieces.
- Perform final checks on book files before they're sent to print.
- Review various manuscripts and proposals as requested, making recommendations regarding strengths/deficiencies and/or suitability for publication.
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Senior Editor or Managing Editor.
- At least two years of college, majoring in English or a related field
- A passion for Christian publishing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and the ability to work well with others
- Preference will be given to those able to work one day a week at the office in Bloomington, Minnesota
