OVERVIEW OF POSITION:


The Classroom Teacher's job is to support the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas. The classroom teacher will develop lesson plans and deliver group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines. The classroom teacher will collaborate with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues and responding to various inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress.

To plan and implement a program that creates an environment where students can learn and develop optimally


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate (Type C or Level 1)
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in field.
  • Additional criteria as established by the Board.

  • Instructional Planning and Delivery:

    • Design and implement lesson plans that meet state standards and the developmental needs of students.
    • Use differentiated instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
    • Integrate technology, hands-on activities, and interactive methods to enhance learning.
  • Classroom Management:

    • Establish and maintain a positive, structured, and safe learning environment.
    • Develop and enforce classroom rules and procedures that promote respect and accountability.
    • Address behavioral challenges promptly and effectively while fostering social-emotional development.
  • Student Assessment:

    • Monitor and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.
    • Use assessment data to inform instruction and provide individualized support.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work collaboratively with colleagues in grade-level teams and professional learning communities (PLCs).
    • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, achievements, and areas of concern.
    • Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
  • Professional Responsibilities:

    • Stay current with educational trends, curriculum updates, and instructional best practices.
    • Follow school policies, district regulations, and ethical guidelines for educators.
    • Actively contribute to a positive school culture and mission.
  • Additional Duties:

    • Support extracurricular activities, school events, and committees as needed.
    • Provide supervision during recess, lunch, and other non-classroom activities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by school administrators.
