What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Attorney - Personal Injury Defense position at Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice?
Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC, a litigation boutique of 170 employees, has an opportunity for an associate attorney with at least five years of experience in all phases of defense litigation. Experience in insurance defense preferred.
Candidates must be licensed in Missouri and Kansas, have excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong advocacy skills.
The work is national in scope and requires travel on a regular basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage file throughout litigation process independently and as a part of the team.
- Conduct fact investigations.
- Travel to accident sites for incident investigations.
- Handle document productions and other discovery tasks.
- Prepare witnesses for deposition.
- Take and defend depositions.
- Prepare pleadings, briefs, and motions.
- Review and analyze policies, contracts, and other legal documents.
- Court hearing preparation and attendance including oral arguments of motions.
- Trial preparation and attendance including trial team support and direct and cross examination of witnesses.
