- What You’ll Do/ A Day In The Life Typically Includes
- As a Book Processor, you are responsible for the application of processing materials such as labels, ink stamping, and protective jackets over products per customer specifications.
- This position performs duties related to processing and labeling a book prior to sending to the library customer. This includes affixing labels, book pockets and/or protective covers for book according to the customer instructions. Must maintain standards of quality and productivity of the Book Processing department.
- We have two book processing departments Value Added Services (VAS) and Customized Library Services (CLS). In Value Added Services you will utilize direction via paper and only work with books. Working in the Customized Library Services book processing department you will utilize the computer, apply anti-theft devices and custom labels. You may also work with Audio Visual materials on top of books.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review orders and specifications
- Pick and place correct product off incoming lines
- Inspection of books to ensure there is not any damage, dirt or other defects; replaces product as necessary
- Correctly match label product according to templates and processing procedures
- Verify product totals and records processing as completed
- Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- Required Skills & Experience
- 0-3 years of warehouse experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Computer skills
- Ability to stand during shift with or without a reasonable accommodation
- Ability to pick up books weighing up to 10 pounds
- Ability to pick up totes up to 50 pounds
- Ability to pick up totes 50-100 pounds with assistance
- Hand and eye coordination
- Attention to detail
- Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms and occasionally walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Must regularly push, pull or lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 40 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
