Scope/Purpose of the Position
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Recruitment & Staffing
· Manage all hourly recruiting, including posting job openings, reviewing applications, conducting initial screenings, and scheduling interviews.
· Assist with salaried recruiting as needed.
· Coordinate with staffing agencies to fill temporary roles, ensuring clear and timely communication.
· Ensure temporary employee timecards are submitted on time to staffing agencies.
· Partner with managers to ensure a smooth hiring process for hourly and salaried employees.
Onboarding & Employee Relations
· Ensure accurate completion of new hires preemployment documentation and processes.
· Conduct orientation in the absence of the HR Assistant.
· Serve as an on-site HR resource for employees and supervisors.
· Address employee concerns, conduct investigations and escalate issues as needed.
· Support employee engagement initiatives, including recognition programs, culture-building activities, and HR projects.
· Assist in HR-related training sessions and workforce development initiatives.
· Maintain timely and effective communication with staffing agencies regarding temporary employees.
· Ensure prompt communication of leave requests and potential FMLA cases to the Payroll and Benefits Specialist.
· Assist in educating employees on benefits and direct them to the Benefits Specialist for enrollments and administration.
· Support open enrollment efforts by helping with employee communication and guidance.
Leadership Development & Coaching
· Assist in the development of leadership skills for supervisors and managers, providing guidance on employee relations and performance management.
· Coach supervisors on handling employee concerns, conflict resolution, and performance management.
· Ensure proper implementation of progressive discipline by guiding supervisors on appropriate documentation, corrective actions, and follow-ups.
· Intervene when necessary to mediate workplace conflicts and provide HR expertise.
Compliance & Policy Enforcement
· Support HR compliance efforts by ensuring policy adherence and maintaining accurate employee records.
· Assist in maintaining proper documentation for audits, reporting, and HR processes.
· Ensure proper handling of employment-related inquiries and escalate complex matters as needed.
HR Projects & Continuous Improvement
· Assist with HR-driven initiatives and special projects assigned.
· Support continuous improvement efforts related to HR processes, employee engagement, and workplace culture.
Collaboration:
· Collaborates with all departments to ensure effective communication, support HR initiatives, and address employee needs across the organization.
Compliance:
· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
· Assists in maintaining accurate records and documentation for audits, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in human resources or a related field.
- Experience with employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, and HR compliance.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (e.g., Paylocity) and other HR tools.
Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
· SHRM-CP or PHR certification.
· Familiarity with HRIS, payroll systems, and recruitment tools.
· Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
· Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds, depending on the specific tasks and departmental needs.
· Ability to navigate the production floor, office areas, and attend meetings in various locations within the facility.
Work Environment
- Primarily based in an office setting, with occasional visits to the production floor or other operational areas.
- Exposure to typical office conditions, as well as the manufacturing environment, which may include noise, machinery, and varying temperatures.
