What are the responsibilities and job description for the Learning Center Assistant position at BakerRipley?
As a member of the Learning & Innovation Centers team, you will join an incredibly talented and creative department dedicated to engaging and motivating adults and youth through digital fabrication, content creation and digital technology to advance BakerRipley’s impact in the Houston region.
Reporting to the Learning Center Manager, the Assistant is primarily responsible for the teaching functions of a Learning Center location with support from the Coordinator/Manager, as needed. The Center will be a local hub for STEM education for both K-12 students and adults.
As a part of the learning and innovation team, the assistant must have an entrepreneurial mindset, be able to work independently and be passionate about STEM education and community service. Some evenings and weekends will be required.

EXPECTED POSITIVE OUTCOMES
In 1-3 Months:
- Teach youth and adult workshops in East End as directed by your manager
- Help members with their project
- Problem solve technical issues at the lab pics.
- Create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment at our center. Build community through member engagement
- Assisting members with their projects and in safely using equipment
- Serve as primary teacher for all classes (youth) and workshops (adults) in the Center. Teaching should be very high quality and candidate should be open to feedback and improvement. Necessitates strong knowledge of all tools in Center, either pre-existing or learned within 3 months of starting.
- Ensure all participant surveys are completed and compiled in order to best serve reporting requirements.
- Lead maintenance of all Center tools and equipment, maintain neat, clean and professional environment, coordinate with agency staff to ensure Center is always clean.
- Lead identification of supply needs and actively communicate with Coordinator to ensure ordering happens in a timely manner.
- Lead training and coordination of volunteers, support Coordinator with developing overall volunteer need and utilization.
- Lead creation of all marketing materials using agency provided software and branding guidelines.
- Support Coordinator with idea generation, curriculum creation, semester planning and medium-term planning.
- Support Coordinator with Center outreach and marketing.
- Answers telephones and provides information to assist callers
- Keep inventory and handling materials and consumables
- Transport and set up of Mobile Fab Lab and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned
