Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. Our research and development programs make us a technology leader with the most advanced methodologies and tools to predict potential consequences, analyze risk, and design protection, prevention, and mitigation systems for such catastrophic events.
Baker Engineering and Risk Consultants, Inc. (BakerRisk®) is seeking an energetic and competent individual to enhance the materials engineering and forensics group headquartered in San Antonio, Texas.
Candidates for the position will possess at least a bachelor’s degree in materials, metallurgical, or mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited/recognized program. A pathway to being registered as a professional engineer is required. A master’s degree is beneficial. The candidate should have from 2-5 years of industrial experience in areas including or related to establishing mechanical integrity controls, performing failure analysis, life assessments, and incident investigations. The individual should have experience working with various structural materials and understand basic failure mechanisms and fracture behavior.
Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills that will be used when interacting with technical personnel, government agencies, and managers.

- Standard metallurgical laboratory equipment and practices
- Optical and scanning electron microscopy
- Mechanical testing and composition analysis techniques
- Non-destructive inspection methods.
- Performing failure analysis
- Participating in on-site accident and incident investigations of industrial locations
- Overseeing and performing laboratory testing
- Managing projects an interfacing with clients
- Writing proposals to bring in project work
- Writing and presenting findings from investigations.
