What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Registration Clerk position at BAKERSFIELD FAMILY MEDICAL GROUP, INC.?
Under the direction of the Clinic Supervisor, this position is responsible for registering patients, scheduling appointments, answering and directing telephone calls, and handling business office functions including verification of insurance, collection of payments and cash deposits. They must maintain adherence to policies, procedures and regulations of the Company and participate in an interdisciplinary and inter-facility approach to achieving the mission, philosophy, and goals of the Company. The Patient Registration Clerk will interact with other departments, clinic personnel, and outside providers in a professional and friendly manner, to create and maintain a positive relationship with our internal and external customers.
1.1 Greets and receives patients and visitors coming to the office with a friendly greeting.
1.2 Verifies and documents insurance eligibility at the beginning of the month or one week prior to appointment unless the patient has Medi-Cal or is only registering for laboratory services.
1.3 Verifies and documents patient's PCP and follow process if patient requests change.
1.4 Work with patient to resolve insurance issues prior to visit.
1.5 Ensures that eligibility is verified for all patients before they receive treatment with any provider.
1.6 Prepares all needed paperwork for physical examinations, work evaluations, return-to-work evaluations and injuries and other visits.
1.7 Checks in patients for their appointments in NextGen.
1.8 Pick-up and timely distribution of mail daily.
1.9 Promptly answers telephone calls to the reception station.
1.10 Orders supplies for the reception station and obtains necessary approvals (or identifies need for re-ordering).
1.11 Prepares new patient for their appointments in NextGen.
1.12 Enters all pertinent patient demographics, insurance carrier information and processes.
1.13 Batch ledgers daily.
1.14 Ensures members are enrolled in the Patient Portal.
1.15 Collects fees when applicable. (Copays and POA's).
1.16 Complete annual and monthly trainings.
1.17 Assists patients with Phressia.
1.18 Check eligibility and forms requirements in Phreesia.
1.19 Be responsible for collecting payments and daily cash.
1.20 Enters all pertinent patient, company and insurance carrier information.
1.21 Prepare new patient charts.
1.22 Daily deposits.
1.23 Schedules patient appointments.
1.24 Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:8.1 High School graduate or equivalent required.
8.2 Ability to deal responsibly with matters of a confidential nature.
8.3 Ability to prioritize work.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $22.58 and $26.56 however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Compensation: Between $22.58 and $26.56
