Summary
The Large Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling tortilla ovens and presses, testing equipment with dough, and ensuring product quality. This role requires mechanical assembly skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities

Assembly & Production:
- Assemble large equipment such as ovens and presses per drawings and schematics.
- Perform quality checks and adjustments during and after assembly.
- Participate in first-time production runs for new products.
- Utilize hand tools and machines, including power screwdrivers, heat guns, crimpers, and precision measuring devices.

Inspection & Maintenance:
- Inspect work at each stage for accuracy and quality compliance.
- Monitor equipment and perform basic maintenance as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Cross-Training & Collaboration:
- Train and assist coworkers in assembly and related processes.
- Cross-train in other departments to serve as a backup when necessary.

Dough Preparation & Testing:
- Learn and master dough-making techniques for equipment testing.
- Test assembled equipment using dough to ensure proper operation and quality.

Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Ensure safety devices and guards are in place and used properly.

Inventory & Reporting:
- Support inventory handling and cycle count activities.
- Accurately enter time and work order data into the ERP system.

Process Improvement:
- Participate in Lean initiatives and suggest improvements for operational efficiency.
Qualifications

Experience & Skills:
- 4–6 years of mechanical assembly or related experience.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.
- Proficiency with precision measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
- Basic math skills, including fractions and decimals.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous learning.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours and lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
