What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Technician (12-hour day shifts) position at Bakewise Brands, Inc.?
A Quality Assurance Technician is needed to work on our 6 am to 6 pm day shift. Typically, you will be scheduled to work Thursday, Friday and Saturday for approximately 36 hours per week. Saturday shifts are sometimes canceled, so you may be scheduled for additional hours on Sundays or Mondays. Training would occur for one week of eight-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday before the technician assumes their permanent hours.
The Quality Assurance Technician does hourly plant walkthroughs and measures and records observations. They communicate issues with management and employees to ensure a quality product is produced and shipped.
Eligible candidates must be able to communicate well in English, both in writing and speaking. Candidates must be able to stand and walk for 12 hours; climb and descend stairs; bend, twist, and stoop. Toleration of hot and cold temperatures is necessary as the candidate will travel through various areas of the plant and may occasionally need to go outside. Personal protection is required and provided, including slip-resistant shoes and safety glasses.

Summary
Assure that all bagels are within company specifications from raw product to the finished product.
Complete all checks at each checkpoint and complete all proper documentation. Following food safety, quality, and food regulatory requirements and paperwork correctness are critical when performing job duties of this position
In accordance with all company policies, the essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Follow all company policies including: GMPs, HACCP, safety procedures, and product quality standards.
2. Reject any bagels that are out of specification and put bagels on hold if needed.
3. Monitor the operation of the metal detectors.
4. Alert the Shift Manager and QA Manager if there is any question of the integrity of the product and whether or not it should be packed.
5. Communicate with the Packing Supervisor and the Proofer as to the changes in the finished product.
6. Communicate with the Shift Manager and Maintenance as to any equipment problems.
Secondary Duties
1. Alert the Shift Manager of any concerns relating to either raw product or finished product.
2. Enforce all GMPs and BRC standards throughout your shift.
3. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED required; additional education and specific training preferred
- 1 year of baking or packaging experience required
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to work in fast paced environment
- Developed computer and program awareness and skills in Excel and Word
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand/walk for considerable periods during 12-hour shift and lift <30 lbs.
- Position requires use of computer and measuring tools/equipment.
- Must be able to learn and use the metal detectors
- Must maintain visual observations on product to be aware of quality of product; picking out unsatisfactory product for testing
- Keep work area clean.
Work Environment
- Conditions in the work area may get up to 90-110 degrees with a high humidity level.
- Work schedule assignment may be days or nights and will involve some weekend coverage and variation due to covering for other department members.
