What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Needs Babysitter position at Balanced Babysitting?
We are seeking compassionate and experienced babysitters to provide specialized care for children with special needs. As a sitter for special needs children, you will play a crucial role in ensuring their well-being by providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. We encourage those in therapy programs, RBTs, paraprofessionals, and special educators to apply! Students welcome to apply as well!
We are specifically looking for individuals who have a background working with children with special needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supervision and Safety:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Be vigilant and attentive to any specific needs or concerns related to the child's condition or disability.
2. Personal Care:
- Assist with activities of daily living, such as feeding, toileting, and dressing, based on the child's individual requirements.
3. Engaging Activities:
- Plan and engage children in age-appropriate and stimulating activities that cater to their unique abilities and interests.
- Encourage social interaction and facilitate play to promote development and learning.
4. Communication:
- Maintain clear and open communication with parents or guardians regarding the child's progress, challenges, and daily activities.
- Be prepared to follow any specific guidelines or routines provided by the child's family.
5. Support:
- Foster a positive and structured environment to help the child thrive.
- Be familiar with and prepared to follow any emergency protocols or medical procedures related to the child's condition.
- Respond promptly and effectively in case of unexpected situations.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with special needs children is strongly preferred.
- At least 2 years of childcare experience is required.
- Therapists, RBTs, paraprofessionals, and special educators preferred.
- Knowledge of common special needs conditions, such as autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, etc., is a plus.
- CPR and willingness to get PA Clearances. First Aid certification is highly recommended
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing disposition are essential qualities for this role.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to the child's unique needs.
