Position Summary
The QA supervisor provides necessary leadership and training to Quality Team Members in completing essential duties and responsibilities of the department, while supporting all day-to-day activities of QA team members, QA processes and procedures.
The QA supervisor introduces and updates new testing and processes, oversees team members’ work to ensure that they adhere to specifications, conducts employee training and evaluation and maintains schedules and determines staffing needs to effectively conduct all activities within QA dept. Directly reports to the Quality Assurance Manager for proper direction, interpretation, and evaluation. Maintains and guarantees Balchem Corporation’s quality and safety standards.

Position Summary

Directly reports to the Quality Assurance Manager for proper direction, interpretation, and evaluation. Maintains and guarantees Balchem Corporation’s quality and safety standards.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the training, development and oversight of quality technicians in the areas of:
- GMP, food safety and quality programs
- Laboratory equipment, set up and instrumentation, performing testing so accurate results are obtained.
- Maintaining the good housekeeping of laboratory area
- Holds Processing
- Laboratory Information Management System (LabVantage)
- Enterprise Resource Planning System (D365)
- Other training required for team to maintain compliance to 21 CFR 117, SQF Code and other Identity Preserved product certifications.
- Schedule quality technicians to ensure needed coverage
- Demonstrated ability to provide timely, constructive feedback on performance to team members.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with quality and cross functional team on issues, actively propose and execute changes to improve those issues.
- Perform regular plant inspections, including but not limited to monthly plant GMP, glass and brittle plastic, and assignment of corrective actions
- Follow-up with corrective actions for documentation errors review and develop trending analysis, charts and interprets data and reports any discrepancies or negative trends.
- Confirm that the monthly glass and brittle plastic checks have been completed and issues corrected
- Lead Root Cause analysis & CAPA investigations.
- Monitor the Master Sanitation Schedule to make certain all scheduled activities are being completed. Assist in development of SSOPs and Sanitation forms.
- Investigate any production quality issues.
- Communicate with Operations and Quality Manager to resolve any quality issues.
- Maintain testing equipment calibration
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and coordinates QA Team efforts to address them.
- Assist in lab testing as needed
- Consistently be on time to work, meetings, and training sessions
- Active participant in site safety programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager
- Report to your Manager any failure to adhere to Balchem’s work ethics and standards
- Support of:
- Daily review of Preventive Control Documents to ensure all Preventive Control documents are reviewed in a timely manner, including as needed daily HACCP documentation, verification and pre-shipments review, releases and proper follow-ups are documented
- Support for Quality Manager in times of absence
- Secondary education preferred
- Lab experience is required, and food-handling experience is desirable
- HACCP knowledge and understanding required/PCQI preferred
- Must have sound analytical and technical skills
- Individual must be equipped with strong motivation, organization, time management, documentation, and communication skills (both orally and written)
- Must have excellent attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Demonstration of strong work ethics (dependable, and trustworthy)
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Must be able to communicate and handle conflict in a professional manner
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Demonstrates commitment to developing talent on all shifts, and willing to attend opposite shifts for training & support when needed
