POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Purchasing Manager processes purchase requisitions and negotiates, orders, purchases, and receives materials in accordance with purchasing guidelines. This position is responsible for verifying bids, invoices, and purchase orders for accuracy, in addition to assisting in maintaining inventory accuracy, implementing purchasing process improvements and cost reduction initiatives and for compiling management reports.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, inventory, and supplier performance. Generate reports to support decision-making
- Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtain multiple quotes when needed for comparison, obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from management as needed, sourcing new vendors as required.
- Track ordering and delivery of items purchase.
- Resolve receiving and price discrepancies with vendors
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize sourcing, purchasing and supplier management process.
- Provide purchasing planning information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing trends
- Analyze procurement spend and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Implement cost control measures and track the effectiveness of cost-saving initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned.
