What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Crew - Golf Course position at Bald Head Island Club?
The Bald Head Island is seeking a self-motivated individual who would like to join our Golf Course Maintenance team. All candidates must be willing and able to work outside in various weather conditions year-round. This includes, but is not limited to, heat, cold, snow, rain, and heavy winds. Additionally, applicants must be able to lift 50lbs.
Position Description Summary
The Grounds Crew team is primarily responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the golf course and surrounding areas, including the main entrance, driveways, pool decks, terraces, playgrounds, tennis courts, greenswards, and other assigned areas.
Role & Responsibilities
Under direction of the Superintendent, ensure all assigned areas are well maintained and presentable
Responsible for the general and daily upkeep of all facility landscaping
Keep all surrounding areas of the Club free of plant debris
Maintain a professional appearance of all flowers, potted plants, native grasses, turfgrass, and other landscaped areas
Operate machinery such as mowers, blowers, skid steers, backhoes, chainsaws, throw bags and other landscaping-related hand and power tools
Ensure proper pruning, watering, and fertilizing of all Club flora
Maintain permanent trees and shrubs, trimming as needed
Update all potted plants in and around the Club, as instructed each season
Rake bunkers and other sanded areas of the course
Repair landscape irrigation components and valves, as needed
Participate in various projects around the Club, as needed
Ensure safe operation of all machinery and tools, adhering to all safety guidelines
Wear all personal protective equipment, as instructed
Maintain up-to-date credentials, certificates, and licenses, as applicable
Qualifications & Education Requirements
General understanding of pruning, watering, and general upkeep of various vegetation and landscaping
Working knowledge of landscaping and residential-type irrigation systems and equipment
Ability to demonstrate professionalism with members, guests, and fellow employees
Maintain a flexible work schedule, which may include weekends and holidays, as needed
Willingness to learn and accept instruction
Must possess a positive attitude and good work ethic
Valid driver's license required
Prior landscaping experience required
