Overview:
This position is a hybrid role between a Driver and Team Lead. As a Team Lead, this individual will work closely with drivers and the regional transportation team in their geographical area to ensure that deliveries are made on time and within the delivery guidelines set by the transportation department. This individual will play an integral role in monitoring driver performance and work time, with a working knowledge of DOT regulations. Additionally, as a Driver, this role will be responsible for operating FMCSA regulated straight trucks intra and interstate making cargo deliveries to customers and/or Baldor locations.
Responsibilities:
Team Lead Responsibilities: (estimated 10-15% of the time)
• Ensure region staff members report to work in a timely manner.
• Coordinate and facilitate the transfer of product on and off trucks at the facility.
• Assist in the facilitation of training new hires.
• Perform audit rides and re-training as needed to ensure that Baldor best practices are followed.
• Address any escalated customer concerns within your designated geographic region.
• Recommend changes in route sequences and delivery windows based on driver and customer feedback.
• Provide structured daily communication to the Transportation Manager including morning and end of day recaps.
• Communicate and escalate service issues in a timely manner to the Transportation Manager as needed.
• Complete and submits accident and injury forms as needed.
• Act as a facilitator and communicate facility needs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Driver Responsibilities: (estimated 85-90% of the time)
• Complete routes safely in accordance with all Company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally.
• Adheres to delivery notes and pick up requests (product returns) as needed.
• Perform all required safety checks (i.e. pre/post trip) including inspections of truck.
• Maintain a clean cab and box of truck at the completion of each day.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Must be able to walk and stand for long hours.
• Must be able to bend, lift, twist and climb.
• Must be able to lift at least 100 lbs.
• Must be able to climb, jump, walk up/down stairs.
• Must be presentable at all times.
• Ability to communicate clearly. Bilingual English and Spanish.
• Must be organized and professional.
Education and Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a driver.
• Experience managing others a plus.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite a plus.
Work Environment:
• Must be able to work in a hot or cold environment.
• Must be able to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
