School Bus Operations Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced School Bus Driver to join our team at Baldwin County Public Schools. As a key member of our transportation department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of students and staff across the county.

About the Role:

• Drive school buses along designated routes, following established safety procedures and guidelines.
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections to identify and address any maintenance issues.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting a positive and inclusive school environment.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of transportation services.
• Stay informed about changes in state and federal regulations affecting school bus operation and driver qualifications.

Responsibilities:

1. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Board policies related to school bus operation and driver qualifications.
2. Participate in regular training and professional development activities to enhance driving skills and knowledge of school bus operations.
3. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and any incidents that may occur during transport.
4. Assist with loading and unloading students, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
5. Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor or other authorized personnel.

Requirements:

• Valid Alabama bus driver certificate and commercial driver's license (CDL) required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds and exert up to 30 pounds of force.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
