Premise Cabling & Wiring Installation and Maintenance
- Pull and terminate voice, video, & data cables.
- Understand & terminate patch panels.
- Tone out cables.
- Make & test patch cables
- Build telephone main frames.
- Know & use telephone color code standards.
- Terminate 100 pair and larger telephone cables.
- Terminate, test, & certify Category 6 data cables.
- Terminate, test, & certify Fiber Optics.
- Cross connect voice cables.
- Advanced installation, setup, and maintenance of Desktop Computer Systems.
- Advanced installation, setup, and maintenance of Computer Peripheral Equipment.
- Advanced telephone set installation and maintenance.
- Installation, programming, and maintenance of Two-way Radios.
- Installation, programming and maintenance of cellular phones.
- Installation and maintenance of security cameras.
- Installation and maintenance of mobile communications devices
- Installation, programming, and maintenance of DSU/CSU units.
- Basic installation, programming, and maintenance of hubs, routers, and switches.
- Basic-level PBX trouble shooting and maintenance.
- Understand & use all test equipment required to complete tasks.
- Keep work order status & work order time entry up to date.
- Keep assigned parts inventory up to date and accounted for.
- Follow industry and departmental standards for labeling and documenting cables, equipment, etc.
- Develop project implementation plans and budget
- Coordinate internal and external resources during implementation of project with emphasis on keeping project on schedule and within budget.
- Develop reports and presentations.

Telephony Systems
- Complete station level adds, moves, and changes.
- Add DISA codes as required.
- Setup and program Voice mail accounts.
- Dial Plan & Route management and programming.
- Maintain system backups and integrity.
- Develop and implement monitoring techniques to ensure efficient operation, avoid problems, and to plan for growth.
- Maintain inventory of systems.
- Initiate and manage upgrade and maintenance plans.
- Develop Departmental & enterprise standards as relates to Telephony implementation and usage.
- Provide expert analysis and decisions on functions associated with software and hardware configuration of the system(s).
- Manage FCC Registration and Licensing of frequencies and towers.
- Perform quarterly visual inspections of sites, towers, antennas, and tower lighting.Coordinate full inspections and maintenance as required.
- Develop standards and manage installations of mobile communications devices.
- Perform Astro 25 System Core, Network, and Site administration, maintenance, and performance monitoring as required.
- Develop and implement monitoring techniques to ensure efficient operation, avoid problems, and to plan for growth.
- Maintain inventory of systems.
- Initiate and manage upgrade and maintenance plans.
- Develop Departmental & enterprise standards as relates to Two-way Radio Systems implementation and usage.
- Provide expert analysis and decisions on functions associated with software and hardware configuration of the system(s).
- Test and implement upgrades to Desktop applications and operating systems.
- Maintain network images of current desktop software.
- Add computers to network domain.
- Assign IP addresses to devices requiring static address.
- Keep other technicians up to date on current levels of software being installed.
- Develop and implement monitoring techniques to ensure efficient operation, avoid problems, and to plan for growth.
- Maintain inventory of systems.
- Initiate and manage upgrade and maintenance plans.
- Develop Departmental & enterprise standards as relates to Computer Desktop Systems implementation and usage.
- Provide expert analysis and decisions on functions associated with software and hardware configuration of the system(s).
- Advanced programming of Switches and Routers.
- Test and implement upgrades to network equipment operating systems.
- Maintain backup images of network equipment configurations and operating systems.
- Develop and manage network systems infrastructure including Fiber, T1s, etc.
- Develop and implement monitoring techniques to ensure efficient operation, avoid problems, and to plan for growth.
- Maintain inventory of systems
- Initiate and manage upgrade and maintenance plans.
- Develop Departmental & enterprise standards as relates to Network Systems implementation and usage.
- Should possess an associate's degree or Technical Certificate from a recognized college, university, or technical school in Communications, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field. Or combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.
- Should have a minimum of two years' experience as a Communications Technician II in a multi-site distributed environment.
- Should possess A Certification or equivalent experience.
- Should possess Network Certification or equivalent experience
- Should possess training, certification, or equivalent experience in their area of specialization.
- Telephony Systems - Programming Siemen's HiCom Switches and Siemen's Voice mail.
- Two-way Radio Systems – Motorola Astro 25 IV&D System Networking, M-Core Overview, System Management Applications, and Systems Administrator Courses. Motorola APX CPS Radio Programming Course.
- Desktop Computer Systems - Microsoft MCP related to Desktop Operating Systems.
- Network Systems - CISCO CCNA.
- Must be willing to travel and stay overnight as required.
- Must be willing to attend additional training, skills development, and other self-improvement courses as deemed necessary by supervisor.
- Thorough knowledge of basic electronic diagnosis and repair.
- Good knowledge of two-way wireless communications systems.
- Thorough knowledge of premise wiring and fiber for voice and data communications..
- Thorough knowledge of outside plant wiring and fiber for voice and data communications.
- Thorough knowledge of station level Telephony equipment.
- Good knowledge of system level Telephony equipment and programming.
- Good knowledge of desktop computer systems and computer peripheral equipment.
- Good knowledge of computer operating systems and computer networks.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP.
- Ability to plan and organize work in order to set priorities and meet deadlines.
