What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT Engineering Technician II (Operations) - Baldwin County Commission position at Baldwin County?
To successfully complete any job/duty deemed necessary by the Operations Manager or his/her Designee.
Part-time positions work no more than 29 hours per week on average. Additionally, part-time positions do not qualify for Baldwin County Commission benefits, with the exception of paid time off (PTO) and retirement through the Retirement Systems of Alabama.
- Perform GIS drawings.
- Assist with Highway Management plan as directed
- Perform traffic counts and run reports.
- May approve routes for overweight and oversized vehicles traveling thru Baldwin County ensuring the safety of the County Road and Bridge System.
- Communicate with contractors regarding Highway Department Projects.
- Performs typing and filing of correspondence and records.
- Perform basic surveying skills such as operating levels and level rods, chains and tapes.
- Perform road inspections.
- Serve as “Project Inspector” or “Project Engineer” for construction projects.
- Perform Bridge Safety Inspections.
- May calculate and prepare monthly estimates and final documentation for various construction projects.
- Ensure ADEM regulations are met on projects.
- Perform material testing for projects.
- Five years' experience in civil field engineering.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Certified Traffic Control Inspector.
- Certified Concrete Technician.
- Certified Roadway Technician.
- Qualified Credentialed Inspector (QCI).
- Certified Level 1 Asphalt Technician.
- Certified Bridge Inspector.
- Acquire additional certifications as needed.
- Willingness to work overtime and non-standard hours as required.
- Required to wear uniforms as directed by County Engineer.
- Knowledge of MicroStation
- Knowledge of ARCGIS and ARCMAP.
- Knowledge of ARCGIS database manipulation.
- Knowledge of CIMS or equivalent database.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint to put together presentations.
- Knowledge of civil engineering practices and their applications to road maintenance.
- Knowledge of deed research and county software that is applicable.
- See well enough to read fine print and numbers accurately and without transposition.
- Hear well enough to respond to verbal communication and to use the telephone.
- Speak well enough to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers and the general public.
- Body movement to bend, stoop and move about.
- Manual dexterity to write and type.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
