Accounting Analyst

The Accounting Analyst will assist with commissions and other related accounting functions under general supervision with moderate complexity. The candidate will be heavily involved in month end, quarter end, and year end close processes.

Principal Responsibilities:

• Download carrier statements from carrier portals and contact carriers for statements.
• Process low/moderate complexity commissions reconciliations.
• Prepares standard journal entries, including revenue, expenses, and deferrals.
• Updating multiple sets of data monthly.
• Coordinate accounting inbox and respond to advisors’ questions.
• Assists with management of internal accounting email, which includes responding to emails received relating to commissions and agent payments.
• Prepares bank reconciliations and proposes journal entries to correct any discrepancies identified during reconciliation process.
• Looks for opportunities to improve the organization, business segments, and processes.
• Brings issues and discrepancies to appropriate leader, while identifying potential solutions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge and basic understanding of US GAAP.
• Moderate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills.
• Exhibits professional skepticism.
• Must demonstrate the organization’s core values, exuding behavior aligned with the firm’s culture.

Special Working Conditions:

• Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
• Must be able to interact effectively with various levels of management, both inside and outside the organization, as well as directly with vendors.
• Position is hybrid in Tampa, Florida.
