What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Underwriting & Strategic Placement - Insurance Advisory Solutions position at Baldwin Group Colleague, Inc.?
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic and visionary leadership providing vanguard solutions to ensure that IAS is delivering RiskMaps/RFPs to advisors and prospective clients. Continuous improvement of our value proposition to stay out ahead of our competitors.
Fosters and maintains strong and strategic relationships with current & prospective insurance company partners.
Works in collaboration with Client Experience and sales leadership to ensure seamless execution of the client experience.
Focused emphasis on hiring, training, and developing a team of culturally aligned and highly capable colleagues. Fully responsible for the accountability and execution of colleagues under his/her leadership.
Execution of forward thinking strategy as it relates to risk architecture, risk management, and cost of risk. Responsible for overseeing successful review/execution of RiskMapping/RFP process and smooth hand- offs with Client Experienceteam and advisory team.
Creates an environment for open feedback through effective communication and regular meetings to address concerns regarding new requirements.
Evaluates colleague performance by providing objective and timely feedback on an ongoing informal basis.
Implements solutions within their sphere of influence and offers insight and solutions across the business.
Setting policy and strategy for short and long-term results. Responsible for hiring, training, development and work product performance evaluation of direct reports. Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices, and procedures. Approves hiring, disciplinary, and discharging actions of team members per firm policy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to lead and influence others.
Ability to measure, analyze and drive key performance indicators.
Detail oriented and a super analytical self-starter.
A keen attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to learn any other appropriate program or software system used by the firm as necessary
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
7-10 years’ insurance industry experience required, 15 years preferred
Advanced Technical Certificates preferred
Maintains all licenses as required by the State Department of Insurance to provide service, consultation, and financial risk transfer solutions in states where the firm functions or be willing and able to obtain all required licenses within the first 90 days of employment required; Maintains all licenses as required by the State Department of Insurance to provide service, consultation, and financial risk transfer solutions in states where the firm functions or be willing and able to obtain all required licenses within the first 90 days of employment preferred
