Job Description / Essential Elements :
Mix, chop, slice, wash, and assemble food and food ingredients; make up serving trays and count, measure, box, and wrap food into serving portions; prepare jellos, toppings, salads, salad dressings, desserts, and may assist in the preparation of main dish and other cooking and baking duties; may prepare and serve Malt Shop items, may operate a cash register, receive, count money, issue, and collect lunch tickets, keep records, routine forms, and reports; set up, disassemble, clean, and operate dishwashers, stoves, ovens, mixers, steam tables, slicers, graters, and other serving equipment."Knowledge of general application, preparation, and serving of foods
Basic kitchen utensils and equipment
Safe and sanitary procedures and practices relating to food services, kitchens, and materials
Requirements / Qualifications
The Baldwin Park Unified School District is recruiting for Substitute Food Service Assistants. These positions will be located at various school sites and will be on an as-needed substitute basis.

The selection process tentatively consists of the District application review, and interviews. The Human Resources Department will contact all applicants once the selection process has been finalized.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge and Abilities :
- General application, preparation, and service of large quantities of food.
- Basic kitchen utensils and equipment and their proper use.
- Safe and sanitary procedures and practices relating to school kitchens, materials, and methods.
- Accurately count money and operate a cash register.
