What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Class B Driver - Rollback Wrecker position at Baldwin Paving?

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently seeking drivers with a CDL Class B license to join our team, driving our Rollback Wrecker. This is a full-time, first-shift position with a start time of 6:00 AM, Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays and Sundays may be required based on operational needs. The position reports to the Shop Dispatcher.

Summary
Performs a variety of duties relating to equipment and other materiel distribution activities and requires a CDL-B license.
Duties
- Safely operate a Rollback truck with rollback wrecker to load, unload, and transport equipment, machinery, and vehicles between job sites, yards, and repair facilities.
- Maneuvers trucks into loading or unloading positions and operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, loaders, and other machinery to safely load and unload onto the rollback truck.
- Load, secure, and unload heavy equipment in compliance with DOT and company safety regulations. Ensure proper use of chains, binders, and straps to secure loads effectively.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
- Maintain accurate trip logs, delivery records, and inspection reports.
- Communicate with dispatch and supervisors regarding schedules, delays, and job requirements.
- Assist in minor truck maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service and professionalism while representing the company.
- Transports items that are bulky and unwieldy utilizing appropriate load balance and adequate protection for items.
- Keeps assigned vehicle in good appearance and assures it is in top-notch condition for periodic vehicle inspections.
- Adhere to all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment.
- The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
- The employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, and exhaust.
- The employee will work outdoors and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, and rain.
Physical Demands:
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to adjust and/or minor maintenance.
- Will use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects.
- Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.
Other Requirements:
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Coveralls, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield.
Education, Training, and Experience
- 2 years of CDL driving experience.
- Willingness and ability to perform the work and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Valid, unrestricted Class B License is required.
