Concrete Finisher - Marietta, GA

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is currently seeking Concrete Finishers to join our team. This will be a full time role. This position reports to the Site Foreman.

Summary:

The primary job function is to smooth wet concrete after a concrete pour

Specific duties:

• Building wood and metal forms;
• Erection and wrecking of all forms;
• Setting and tying steel;
• Pouring concrete;
• Assist in the setup and maintenance of erosion control;
• Loading and unloading of materials;
• Shoveling dirt, gravel, and asphalt;
• Clean up around job site;
• Check and maintain grade stakes;
• Assist in the setup and maintenance of all traffic control aids;
• Operate equipment such as backhoes, Skid Steer Loaders
• Maintenance of all equipment and tools.
• Work with a variety of hand (sledge & carpenter hammers), power tools (hand saws), and equipment (jackhammer) used in concrete work
• Finishes wet surfaces to grade on all types of concrete work requiring a fine finish.
• Will need to know how to use a float, trowel, screed, template, hand shovel, motorized tamp, push broom
• Lift, carry and hold materials, tools, and supplies.
• Other duties as assigned

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Employees will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, exhaust, etc.  The employee will work outdoors, and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, rain, etc.

Physical Demands:

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools, and other items used to make adjustments and/or minor maintenance.   Will use hands, arms, back, and shoulders to handle, install, position, move items, and manipulate other objects.  Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling, or sitting position for long periods of time.

Other Requirements:

Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA and company policy. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position: Coveralls, Fall Protection, Gloves, Welding Gloves, Hard Hat, Hearing Protection, Padlocks for Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Welding Aprons, Welding Helmet, Welding Shield.

Education, Training, and Experience

• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work and follow verbal and written instructions.
