Result Statement:
To support the pharmacist in their efforts to build customer satisfaction by meeting the needs of our patients in a manner that conveys a high level of compassion, furthers the patient’s trust in us and, fosters their continued support and referrals. The specialty tech primarily does this through improving the workflow by growing the Auto-Refill and/or SYNC program, thus decrease walk-in prescription fill demand. The specialty tech should fill a high percentage of the daily prescriptions (above 60%) through the auto-refill program which will allow time for any needed refills to be obtained and medications obtained to prevent IOUs.
Specific Result Expectations:
1) Develops relationships with A/R and SYNC patients as to become their “go-to” person.
2) Completes A/R and/or SYNC processes with accuracy so that extreme patient confidence is instilled. The goal of the program is that all patients enrolled would never reach the counter to hear that they have no refills or that a medication needs to be ordered.
3) Grows A/R and/or SYNC program to include any patients (if at all possible) that take more than 4 meds per month and/or are on ANY special order or high cost medication. Total prescriptions filled each day should be more than 60% of daily fills/refills.
4) Completion of daily checklist
5) Keeps PQS (medication errors) at acceptable level.
6) Participation in growth campaigns as they occur
7) Efficiency in all skills to facilitate pharmacist availability for patient interactions
Job Overview:
The specialty pharmacy tech is a critical position in managing all A/R, SYNC and packaging programs. This job requires friendly, caring and accurate service. General job functions for the tech include using the pharmacy management software system to enter patient, inventory and prescription information, managing the workflow as they relate to the A/R or Sync process.

Specific for Specialty Pharmacy Tech:
1. Is capable of completing all procedures as designated in the Patient Relations Specialist (PRS) position agreement.
2. Completes all procedures of dispensing from intake to checkout as designated, following procedure.
3. Masters applicable functions of pharmacy management software as they pertain to dispensing, A/R, PBM billing, etc., as designated by pharmacist manager.
- Take patient and prescription information and update the pharmacy software system accurately and completely
- Fill patient prescriptions with 99% accuracy.
- Process controlled substance prescriptions.
- Keep pharmacy store shelves neat and drug stock managed for minimal drug expiration.
- Complete third party rejections.
- Understand, promote and carry-out all required store programs (SyncRx, Adherence packaging, etc.)
- Meets all continuing education requirements.
- Completes Audit Protection Procedures.
- Functions as the “back-up” support for the pharmacy CRS (cashier).
- Maintains professional communications with vendors, health care providers, staff and patients.
- Complete required training within the requested timeframe; including on a yearly basis:
- HIPAA Training
- OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Training
- Fire & Safety Training
- Medicare Fraud & Abuse Training
- Combat Methamphetamine (Sudafed® training)
- Pharmacy Quality Commitment Training
15. Completes technician registration with the State of Georgia within 3 months of hire

Education, Experience, Skills:
Education:
· High School Diploma (preferred)
License Requirements:
· Certification preferred
· Actively registered with Georgia State Board of Pharmacy
Experience/Skills:
· Has the ability to complete all assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner
· Organization skills cannot be overstated. The A/R and SYNC process has many steps and the specialty tech must be able to keep each patient’s meds organized and together through the entire process from obtaining needed refills to obtaining needed medication and dispensing.
· Must be self-driven to complete workflow independently
· Must be willing to complete follow-ups needed with patients and doctors to ensure correct medications are filled each month
· Can pass preliminary skills test
· Be flexible with work volume and scheduling, able to learn and adapt quickly to a dynamic work environment
· Be able to perform basic mathematical calculations in an accurate manner
· Be detail oriented and inclined to make few mistakes, good memory
