What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Intervention Worker- (Relief Worker) Weekend Shifts position at Baldwin Youth Services, Inc.?
Baldwin Youth Services operates three group homes that serve at-risk youth in our community. We are seeking qualified applicants that have a calling to serve and support children, not just looking for a job, for the position of Child Intervention Worker-Relief Worker, which is a weekend part-time position. We are looking to hire a highly qualified individual who can work at their availability to cover 12 or 24 hour shifts on weekends. Hours are not set and will vary from week to week, and the hours worked may be at either our Intervention Center or our Boys' or Girls' Homes.
Qualifications: Applicant must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED and must be able to pass a criminal background check once hired. Worker may have to transport youth in our van, so applicant must possess a valid driver’s license. The applicant must have good communication skills and be able to work well with other staff, juvenile probation officers, family members, and DHR workers in order to assure that the best interests of the children are served and must be able to work well with challenging youth. Applicant must be able to establish solid boundaries while maintaining structure and engaging in a positive, but firm manner with our youth. Applicant must be able to balance working independently with working as a member of a team and must have basic computer skills and be able to manage minimal paperwork.
Job description: The Relief Worker is a part-time, weekend only position. The worker will be called in to cover all or part of a shift based on the needs of the organization and availability of the worker. Hours will vary from week to week. Worker will provide care for up to eight children between the ages of 8-17 who have been placed by Juvenile Court, DHR, Juvenile Probation, and/or legal custodian at our Intervention Center or our Boys' and Girls' Homes.
Daytime (Weekend) Relief Worker will: keep children in productive tasks at all times; supervise children at all times; cook meals; clean and organize the facility; drive agency van to transport children as needed; assist with school work as needed; administer medications; complete intakes and discharges of children; supervise summer activities.
Up-Night (Weekend) Worker will: monitor children throughout the night; clean the facility nightly; do laundry; administer medications; cook breakfast; periodically complete intakes and discharges of children.
