Summary:
The holter monitor scanning technician is responsible for reviewing data reports from a 3 day, 7 day, or 14 day extended wear holter monitor, as well as 30 day event monitors, which contains the necessary and appropriate data required for the physician to provide an interpretation. The tech relies on his/her EKG skills, in order to extract any abnormal data for physician review. He/she must be able to determine the level of accuracy with which the outsourced monitoring company measures data, identifies abnormal tracings, and labels data, and must make corrections, as necessary. 2. TASKS a. Uploads data from appropriate websites; b. Performs brief review, identifying any abnormal tracings, as per protocols of the EP physicians; c. Evaluates computer labeling of data, including abnormal rhythms and complexes, and corrects as appropriate; d. Saves reports to PDF files and imports into EHR; e. Troubleshoots problems with websites contacting appropriate company tech support or Ballad IT, as necessary; f. Continually solicits input from interpreting physicians, as to quality of scans and any improvements in skill level needed; g. Utilizes EP physicians as educational resource. Attends any educational session/process improvement sessions conducted by EP physicians; h. Notifies physician immediately of critical scans, as identified in monitor scanning protocol, and follows up by contacting patients with any physician instructions; I. May be required to cross-train for CV office monitor tech (3290) to fill in during times of high volume or staff absences in that position.
Requirements:
High school diploma minimum; Monitor tech or cardiac LPN experience preferred; Excellent knowledge of cardiac rhythms and EKG complexes; Willingness to complete any training identified by Ballad CVA as being beneficial to the position; Intermediate computer skills.
Licenses and Certifications:
CCT Certification Preferred
CPR is required for any RN, LPN, PCT, Patient Transporter or other direct patient care provider. Emergency Department, Intensive Care Units, PACU, Medical Emergency Team and Anesthesia require ACLS. Pediatrics, SICU, Emergency Department and Medical Emergency Team also require PALS
