Director of Technology
Reports to: Superintendent
Basic Function: Provides leadership, long-range planning, management, and support in all areas of information technology for the district. Performs responsibilities necessary to frame technology operations around support of the district's mission, beliefs, vision, and benchmarks.
Education and Related Work Experience:
Minimum of three years experience in managing enerprise-level network systems and cybersecuirity protocols.
Master's degree (Educational Technology, IT Management, or similar) preferred
Essential Functions:
- Provides vision and leadership to the district in the areas of instructional use and administrative coordination of technology
- Facilitates the District Technology Team providing them with product information, and costs, and meeting monthly or as frequently as necessary
- Demonstrates/considers the impact of technological innovations on curriculum alignment and articulation among grade levels, subject areas, and buildings
- Ensures infusion of technology skills into the curriculum by working closely with the Instructional Technology Lead, teaching staff, and administrative staff
- Facilitates technology need assessments, audits, and surveys, as needed
- Maintains a district inventory of technology tools
- Facilitates, implementation, and development of short and long-term plans for the purchase and utilization of technology
- Develops needed staff development/training related to applications and peripherals
- Coordinates license agreements for software packages
- Maintains vendor relations
- Coordinates/monitors and maintains records of hardware costs
- Communicates technology initiatives with staff, patrons, and the Board of Education
- Prepares grant proposals
- Coordinates installation of technologies and assists with installations when appropriate
- Supervises and evaluates district technicians
- Develop and oversee a method to identify and prioritize repairs and maintenance
- Assists with the Student Information System and other systems that communicate with the SIS database
- Provides network management and maintenance when needed
- Support and implement district policy and regulations
- Ensure data integrity of all data controlled by the central administrative computer system
- Provide advice on all computer hardware and software purchases
- Attend training sessions required to keep abreast of technological advances needed to properly fulfill the responsibilities of the position
- Develop and administer district-wide security system for network usage
- Design network security policies and procedures
- Plan and oversee the disaster recovery & backup procedures for the district network
- Plan preventive maintenance procedures for hardware and equipment.
- Responsible for network security policies and procedures
- Propose policies/procedures regarding technology issues
- Adhere to applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations, board policies, and administrative rules
- Maintain high integrity and confidentiality in the school operation
- Be knowledgeable of and abide by all school board policies, procedures, and other applicable laws
- Cooperate with and work in a courteous manner with co-workers and other personnel
- Dress appropriately for the position and work required
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward school, students, and job and communicate the same to the community
- Accept constructive criticism and suggestions and seek to improve each performance responsibility
- Demonstrate organization and professionalism in fulfilling the responsibilities of the job
- Greet all students, faculty, staff, and visitors courteously
- Attend work on a prompt and regular basis
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Occasional prolonged and irregular hours, frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions; work on-call and after hours
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
