Job Summary
As a Full-Time School Bus Driver with Ballard County School District, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school sites, as well as on field trips. This is a 182-day contract position with 4 hours of driving per day. Benefits are available upon employment.
Responsibilities
• Transport students to and from school sites and on field trips
• Operate a school bus safely in accordance with time schedules
• Load and unload students, ensuring their safety and proper use of safety belts
• Maintain order and discipline among passengers, resolving disputes and documenting severe disciplinary cases
• Conduct daily safety and operational inspections of the assigned vehicle
• Ensure the bus is in a safe and clean operating condition, reporting needed mechanical repairs and maintaining proper safety procedures
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, parents, and other staff members
Requirements
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL)
• Ability to read and write in English at a level sufficient to successfully perform required duties
• Ability to understand and carry out both oral and written instructions in an independent manner
• Ability to recognize mechanical safety hazards in the bus
• Ability to meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the required duties
Working Conditions
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to inclement weather. The driver must be able to lift, push, and pull heavy objects, as well as stand for long periods of time.
