Summary/Objective:
Accountable for the organization and administration of all human resources activities including employment/employee relations, recruiting/placement, employee benefits, pay administration, compliance, performance management, training and development, etc. This role is responsible for the quality of Human Resource operations and processes. The Human Resources Generalist develops, implements, and executes HR/ Employee services, policies, programs and procedures, and assists and advises company department managers about Human Resources issues. This role also supports the Director of Operations by managing general office and administration activities as related to people operations.
Teachers should have experience in following and teaching a curriculum, the ability to motivate students, a positive and collaborative nature and the ability to adapt to the style of Ballet Arizona.
This role requires significant physical activity. Teachers of all disciplines must be able to clearly communicate technique both vocally and physically to. Teaching Artists will work offsite from the Ballet Arizona studios and will work with students of a variety of ages, experience, abilities, and backgrounds.
Essential Functions:

- Administer the company payroll process including entering/ checking of time cards, payroll changes, payroll distribution.
- Administer all employee benefit related matters including, medical, dental, paid time off, unemployment, workers’ compensation, 403 (b), etc.
- Partner with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Provide support and guidance to Management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; will be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. Maintains minimal company exposure to lawsuits.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Supports the relationship with outsourced accounting partner, including basic banking activities and facilitating information exchange.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory responsibilities:
- This position does not have any direct reports.
Work Environment:
- Work is conducted primarily in a dance studio setting at the Child Crisis Arizona building in Mesa, Arizona. Event support at the main studio location and at external event sites is required.
- Some weekends, late evenings, or on-call work are required.
- This position is not eligible for a travel stipend.
Physical Demands:
- Physical requirements include sitting for long periods of time and heavy computer usage.
- Light physical effort is required – must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
Travel Required:
- Travel to and from external event sites (within Maricopa County) is required.
- Must be willing and able to commute to and from the office and event sites on a regular basis.
Required Education and Experience:
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
- 5 years of progressively advancing experience in the Human Resources or People Operations fields
- Must possess thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
- Demonstrated experience working with HRIS and talent management systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Broad knowledge of compensation, organizational planning, organization development, employee relations, safety, and training and development preferred.
- Experience with ADP and Paylocity desirable
- Experience in industries with high worker’s comp claims preferred
- Proficiency in Spanish desirable
- Experience working in the arts and/or with artists is preferred
