Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in classical ballet as well as the basics in other dance styles. The candidate should have a love of working with children and prior teaching knowledge is appreciated but not required. This role involves teaching children ages 3-14 classical ballet on a weekly basis. It also involves choreographing dances for the year end recital. Our classes are held in the basement studio of Ivy Rehab in Grant. Classes meet from 3:30-7:00 on Tuesday evenings. We ocassionally offer a Wednesday afternoon class as well. The recital occurs in late April or early May with rehearsal being on a Thursday night and the event on a Saturday morning. This is the perfect opportunity for a high school student who has grown up taking dance and would like to try their hand at teaching. Candidate must be willing to commit to the entire year of teaching.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students.
- Teach the basics of classical ballet to each class based on their age and ability
- Develop recital routines and help with costume selection
- Suggest and participate in fundraising efforts for the studio
- Discuss any issues with parents as necessary. However, the studio manager is able to handle most of that, particularly if the candidate is still a student themselves.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during instructional time.
Experience
- Previous experience in teaching or tutoring is preferred.
- Strong background in classical ballet is required and a knowledge of other dance styles is appreciated.
- Experience working with children in a childcare or educational setting.
- Strong management skills are necessary to create an effective learning environment.
- Ability to engage children through creative teaching methods while maintaining discipline.
