What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Athletics (Probationary) position at Ballston Spa Central School District?
The Director of Athletics will provide comprehensive leadership in the development, implementation, coordination and supervision of all District Athletic Programming. In addition, the Director will have oversight of the District's Health and Physical Education programming.
Benefits and Salary:
- $125,000-$140,000 per year, based upon experience
- 12-month position in the Ballston Spa Administrators' Unit

Responsibilities:
- Hiring: Athletics Coaches and PE and Health Teachers (in conjunction with Building Principals)
- Oversight of Athletics, PE and Health Budgets
- Facilities and Building and Grounds Coordination for practices and competitions
- Supervision of all interscholastic sports coaches, (K-12) PE teachers and health teachers
- Scheduling of all Athletic home and away competitions for interscholastic athletic activities
- Oversight of Health Physicals in conjunction with the Director of Student Support Services
- Oversight of transportation for all athletic competitions and practices in conjunction with the Director of Transportation
- Oversight of student athlete disciplinary decisions as related to District policy
- Maintains accurate records of all athletic coaching certificates, and provides support to coaches in maintaining their certifications (First Aid, CPR, Coaching, Lifeguarding)
- Oversight of training and mentoring coaches regarding current practices, procedures, policies and responsibilities utilizing pre-season meetings or other Professional Development opportunities.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid NYS Certification SDL OR SDA
- Minimum 3-5 years in Administration or leadership position as related to Health, PE or Athletics and experience in coaching
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (an on demand, in-person writing prompt will be required during the interview process)
- Positive, professional and respectful demeanor
- Proven record of working with families, staff, community members and other Administrators in a positive, collaborative manner
- Willingness to attend on and off-site contests for multiple sports programs (including weekends and evenings) while fulfilling all daily duties as related to Athletics, Health and PE
- NYS Certification in Physical Education or Health
- APPR Lead Evaluator of teaching staff
